Celebrating Our Graduates: Yoon Thiri and May Thazin Oo

posted on June 15, 2025 by Hayden Powick

At Marist Asia Foundation, we take great joy in walking alongside our students as they grow, learn, and prepare to serve their communities. On June 5, we proudly celebrated the graduation of two of our former students, Yoon Thuri and May Thazin Oo, who have completed their university studies.

Our graduates earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching from Asia Pacific International University.

Reflecting on the past four years, Yoon Thiri shares:

“I recently graduated from Asia Pacific International University with a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching. Over the past four years, my studies have challenged me to become more responsible, flexible, and open-minded while adapting to new environments, cultures, and practices. Despite the challenges, I truly enjoyed my student life. I built meaningful friendships and explored different aspects of teaching, which helped me better understand my passion for education.”

What makes this moment even more special is Yoon and May’s return to Marist Asia Foundation—not just as a graduates, but as a role models for our current students.

We are proud of Yoon and May whose journeys reflect the values of service, learning, respect, and compassion that we strive to nurture in every student. Their achievements are a testament to the power of education to transform lives and communities.

Marist Asia Foundation

Ranong is a fishing village in the South of Thailand where migrant Burmese come to escape conflict and poverty in their own country.

The Marist Mission Ranong seeks to help Burmese refugees by offering educational opportunities, supporting their basic health needs, and assist migrants as they seek a better future for themselves and their children.

The Marist Mission Ranong is an initiative of the Society of Mary and it relies heavily on the involvement of its friends and supporters.
