From Left to Right: Susie and Tim Leo, Henry and Jenny Tan

March 2011

MMR was pleased to welcome Henry and Jenny Tan who made a fleeting visit from Singapore. Together with Susie and Tim Leo who were unable to be there, they were interested in finding out just what the needs of the Mission were and what they in Singapore could do to help.

Even though their visit was very brief, they were able to get positive information and as a result of this, educational resources have already been sent to Fr Kevin and arrangements are under way to sponsor MMR staff to attend a retreat in Singapore, focusing on the spiritual needs of those working under stressful conditions in environments such as Ranong. We look forward to hearing further reports on this later.

THANK YOU Singapore

Marist Asia Foundation

Ranong is a fishing village in the South of Thailand where migrant Burmese come to escape conflict and poverty in their own country.

The Marist Mission Ranong seeks to help Burmese refugees by offering educational opportunities, supporting their basic health needs, and assist migrants as they seek a better future for themselves and their children.

The Marist Mission Ranong is an initiative of the Society of Mary and it relies heavily on the involvement of its friends and supporters.
