Marist Asia Foundation recently hosted its annual Wai Kru Day, or Teacher Respect Day, marking an important cultural tradition at the start of the school year. In Thailand, this day is traditionally held on a Thursday—a day historically associated with wisdom and learning—allowing students to formally express gratitude and respect to their educators. The ceremony emphasises the meaningful bond between students and teachers, utilising traditional offerings like flowers and prepared trays to symbolise traits such as humility, patience, and intelligence.
To prepare for the event, classrooms were busy with students handcrafting personal gifts, including poems, cards, letters, and floral arrangements.

The formal assembly brought the school community together, beginning with the traditional teacher respect song sung by the student body. Student representatives then delivered speeches to explicitly express their gratitude to the faculty. Reflecting the multicultural nature of the foundation, the event featured faculty addresses delivered in both Thai and Burmese.
The ceremony concluded with students presenting special flower trays and individual classroom gifts to their teachers to show their appreciation. Administrative coordination ensured that health and safety guidelines were maintained throughout the gathering.
