As part of the 2025 Marist Mission Workshop, participants travelled to Lam Liang in Kraburi District, Ranong Province, to take part in the local celebration of the Feast of St. Gaspar Bertoni on November the 19th. The gathering brought together parishioners, workshop participants, and friends from across the diocese for a day of prayer, hospitality, and learning.
Bishop Paulo Trairong of Surat Thani presided at the Eucharist and preached on the life and spirituality of St. Gaspar Bertoni, founder of the Stigmatines. He reminded us that St. Gaspar lived during a turbulent period in northern Italy, marked by political change and deep social needs. In response, he founded a congregation dedicated to serving the Church wherever the need was greatest—missionaries ready to teach, reconcile, and renew.
For the Marist Mission Workshop participants, the visit to Lam Liang was a meaningful encounter with Thailand’s Catholic heritage and a reminder that mission grows from listening, presence, and genuine solidarity with local communities.
